COVID Safety

Please review this waiver and if you have any flu like symtoms we ask you not to attend the swim. Please keep everyone safe and stay a good social distance when at the venue. Every person on site will need to check-in with the Service NSW QR upon entry. Swimmers will not be able to collect their pack until they have checked-in. Please have your phone with you to enable speedy and easy checkin.

Race Day

There will be no late registrations in 2021. Due to COVID restrictions and our safety policy, all registrations have been taken online prior to the event. Race pack collection will take place in the park each area and will open 1 hour prior to race start. Please move directly to the start location after collection and follow the signs and announcement regarding movement around the park and beach. 5km race will commence from 8am, 2.5km race from 9am and 1km from 11am. Please be ready and on the beach at least 10min prior to race start for your safety briefing. This year we will have rolling start please follow the instructions of the marshalls.

NEW 5km swim, which is two laps of our 2.5km course.The start and finish is on Malabar Beach. Marker buoys are positioned to indicate the course for each swim.

Team Entries

Swim Teams

Swim Teams for 2021 fastest team have been organised. If you would still like to particpante in the challenge you must have a team of 4 swimmers in the same race to compete, please contact the race organisers on the day .

Swimming with a Disability

The Murray Rose Malabar Magic Ocean Swim welcomes swimmers with a disability. All swimmers who have identified as a swimmer with a disability will collect their Race Packs from the Rainbow Club Tent marked

No Awards presentation

The Murray Rose Malabar Magic Ocean Swim wwill be presenting awards to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd  Male and Female overall in each race this year due to COVID restrictions. Please listen to annnoucements as there will be some lucky swimmer prizes and fundrasing prizes awarded that will be sent out after the swim.

The race results will be linked to this websites home page after the swim has finsihed and will be avilable to view on Multisport Australia's site.

Water on exit

Iced bottles of water will be availble as you exit the site after your swim, please take one from our volunteers as you exit.

SwimFit Corporate Express

Thank you to our organisations that have taken part in the SwimFit Corporate challenge. ON the Race day you will go directly to the Corporate Express lane on tent A-K and collect your race pack from there. KPMG, BLP, Ottomin, Liftronic, Bondi Icebergs & Wotton Kearney.

FAQs

  • Eligibility
    • 1km swim: Swimmers aged 10 years and above who have adequately trained for the event.
      2.5km & 5km swims: Swimmers aged 13 years and above who have adequately trained for the event.

  •  
  • Preferred Wave Start
    • Only the 5km and 2.5km swim will offer a Preferred Wave Start. The first wave into the water will be the Preferred Wave. Top-ranked swimmers may elect to participate in the Preferred Wave and will not be eligible for age category prizes.

  • Swimming Aids
    • Swimmers may use foreign swim aids such as flippers, snorkels, wetsuits or other flotation devices and can enter in the relevant age category. However, these entrants will not be eligible for age category prizes (unless the swimmer has also registered as a swimmer with a disability).

  • Cold Water
    • Wetsuits will be permitted if the water temperature drops below 18 degrees on the morning of the swim.

  • Safety and Risk
    • For the protection of all swimmers, water control and safety will be under the authority of Randwick Council lifeguards and district surf clubs. The course will be patrolled by IRBs, jet skis, ski and board paddlers. Qualified personnel in emergency first aid and medical procedures will be on site.

      Please remember that ocean swimming is a demanding sport. Swimmers enter at their risk and are responsible for their physical condition by undertaking adequate training and having a medical check before the event.

      If a swimmer feels unable to continue, they should attract the attention of the water safety personnel and assistance will be provided.

      A swimmer judged incapable of finishing the course will be brought to shore by the safety personnel. Any swimmer who pulls out of the swim must notify officials on the beach immediately.

  • Water bottle filling stations
    • Rainbow Club takes a positive and strong approach with use of plastics. We encourage all participants to be self-reliant and bring your own fluids, water, drinks in your own reusable water bottles. For COVID health practices the only fluids the race organiser will provide is bottled water after the race. We ask you to support or mission and bring your own fluids.
